2017 Smart Fortwo Cabrio Electric Drive review – verdict, price, specs and release date
It’s the only all-electric convertible on sale in the UK so far – but does that give the Smart Fortwo Cabrio Electric Drive an extra spark or a disappointing fizzle?...
If you live in a warm, sunny city and want a trendy little runaround, the Smart Fortwo Cabrio Electric Drive has plenty of appeal. Its snappy power delivery makes it fun and easy to drive, while the electric range is more than enough for nipping about town.
However, it is expensive, and while its range is fine in town, it will limit how far you can travel – and as a result, the Cabrio Electric Drive will only really work as a second car for most buyers.
When you consider that the same money will buy you a conventionally-powered small convertible car, such as a Mini Convertible or Fiat 500C, with four seats and more boot space, you’ll have to really want the Fortwo Cabrio’s admittedly unique blend of talents to justify the high price.
