Avid What Car? readers will know all about the Audi A6 already, because its featured in the current edition of the magazine and online.
However, the unveiling in Detroit is the first time it's been shown in public, and theres already a sense of eager anticipation that this may be another Audi that hits the mark.
Showgoers certainly wont have any difficulty in identifying the A6. With its long bonnet, sweeping roofline and distinctive rear end, it couldnt be anything else, even though it is an all-new car.
Its a timely launch, too, as the current car has been around for a long time and fallen behind much newer opposition in the shape of the BMW 5 Series, Jaguar XF and Mercedes E-Class.
You can find the full details of the technology-laden car and its BMW rivaling engine line-up here.
The Audi A6 is already on sale, with prices starting from 30,145, and the first examples are due to be delivered in the spring.
We are set to drive the car for the first time later this month, so keep checking back on whatcar.com for our expert verdict.
