New Range Rover Velar & Audi SQ7 & BMW X6

Our verdict

As our online poll proves, many of you think the Velar is the most desirable car in this test – and it’s not just a pretty face. Its standard air suspension delivers a relaxing ride, while the eye-catching interior will make you feel special every time you get behind the wheel. Performance and practicality aren’t all that but, if you’ve been seduced by those looks, you won’t be disappointed.

The Velar doesn’t come close to winning this match-up, though. The SQ7 is simply one of the most complete cars on sale. Devastating performance, barely believable agility and a superb interior are strengths, but it’s also remarkably comfortable and quiet and easily the most practical of our trio.

The X6 comes last but is no lemon. It’s good to drive and, despite those coupΓ© looks, its boot is surprisingly practical. It’s just a shame the engine isn’t quieter and that any savings you’ll make when buying will be eaten up by heavy depreciation.
