Ford Fiesta ST-Line

With a DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port the Fiesta gets off to a good start. Sadly, the tiny 4.2in screen and mess of buttons you use to control it are less impressive. A slightly larger 5.0in screen with sat-nav is a reasonably priced extra, but even that doesn't add Apple CarPlay or Android Auto smartphone apps. In this company, it feels very dated.

Seat Ibiza FR

The Technology Pack model gives you a 6.5in colour touchscreen with Bluetooth, a USB port and sat-nav as standard. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are also included so you can sync up your smartphone and use it via the screen. The menus are easy enough to hit accurately on the move. We just wish it was mounted a little higher on the dashboard.

Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo Fabias get a similar system to the Ibiza with a 6.5in touchscreen, DAB radio, Bluetooth and a USB port. While you have to pay an extra £500 for sat-nav, we wouldn't bother. That's because Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are standard allowing you to use your phone as a sat-nav, as well as other functions. Just remember to download maps or it won't work if you have no signal.
