Automotive giant Stellantis has issued an immediate UK recall for second-generation Citroën C3 and first-generation DS 3 models manufactured between 2009 and 2019.

This comes after a French woman suffered fatal injuries from the Takata airbags fitted to a 2014 Citroën C3 earlier this month.

Stellantis has urged all owners of the named models to immediately stop using their vehicle when safe to do so. Affected customers will be notified by letter, or they can check if their vehicle is affected using the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) check tool on the Citroën UK website.

If customers are unable to register their vehicle online, they can also contact Stellantis’s Recall Helpline on 0800 917 9285, or Citroën’s Customer Care line on 0800 093 9393.

Vehicles affected are the second-generation Citroën C3, manufactured between 2009 and 2016 and the DS 3 manufactured between 2009 and 2019 under both Citroën and DS Automobiles.

These vehicles equipped with Takata airbags have already been recalled in France following a request from the French transport ministry. This decision is an expansion of an ongoing comprehensive recall that started more than a year ago, with 481,000 cars with the airbags having been repaired in France to date.
