Audi Q5 2.0 TDI 190 Sport

Volkswagen Passat GTE

It might look like any other Passat, aside from the blue trim running through its front lights and grille, but the Passat GTE is actually a plug-in hybrid that can travel up to 30 miles on electric power alone. It's available as a saloon and an estate and is a great option for company car drivers.

Euro NCAP scores:

  • Adult occupant protection 85%
  • Child occupant protection 87%

Seat Arona

Seat's second SUV is smaller than its first, the Ateca, being based on the same underpinnings as its Ibiza hatchback. That doesn't stop it from being one of the best, affordable small SUVs. It's good to drive, roomier than most rivals and fairly affordable to own. Safety is a strong point too, with automatic emergency braking standard across the range.

Euro NCAP scores:

  • Adult occupant protection 95%
  • Child occupant protection 80%
  • Pedestrian protection 77%
