As Nissan’s first electric SUV, the Ariya is a solid effort. It’s easy to drive, the interior is spacious and the quality impressive, and the strong residual values should make it a tempting choice on PCP finance. It’s just a shame that the boot isn’t all that big and that some rivals have longer ranges and the ability to charge up more quickly.

We reckon this entry-level trim is all you could ever need because it’s packed with standard equipment that includes 19in alloy wheels, full LED lights, a heated front windscreen, an electronic tailgate, automatic dual-zone climate control, a heat pump, heated front seats, ProPilot autonomous driving, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, auto-parking ability, a 12.3in digital driver display, a 12.3in touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio, built-in sat nav, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone mirroring and Amazon Alexa/Google integration and wireless phone-charging.

Four-wheel drive version of the Ariya is fast, but it costs more than the front-wheel drive version and has an inferior range between charges.
