The Juke is strong in some key areas, including interior quality, safety and equipment levels, but there are more rounded choices in the small SUV class. The Skoda Kamiq is one, and noticeably better if you’re looking for space or comfort, while the excellent Ford Puma should be cheaper to run and far more exciting to drive.

This is the entry point in the range if you want alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity and a rear-view camera. It's well worth a look.

This 112bhp 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol is gutsy enough, and if you work it really hard it can take the Juke from 0-62mph in 10.7sec. We'd avoid the automatic gearbox, though - if you want an auto, the Juke Hybrid is much better.
