The Juke is strong in some key areas, including interior quality, safety and equipment levels, but there are more rounded choices in the small SUV class. The Skoda Kamiq is one, and noticeably better if you’re looking for space or comfort, while the excellent Ford Puma should be cheaper to run and far more exciting to drive.

Adds bigger 19in alloy wheels, heated front seats, a BOSE stereo, adaptive cruise control and a variety of extra safety aids. It is rather pricey, though.

We prefer the Juke Hybrid to the automatic petrol Juke, but unless you do enough miles to really notice the efficiency savings, we'd go for the considerably cheaper manual petrol.
