Review

Although the Nissan Qashqai is no longer our favourite family SUV, it remains a sound proposition. If you choose wisely it's one of the more comfortable cars in the class, and the 138bhp 1.3-litre petrol engine really impresses. The Seat Ateca and Skoda Karoq have more room and are better to drive, but the Qashqai should still make it onto your shortlist.

Trim: Tekna+

Tekna+ comes with luxurious quilted nappa leather seats, memory recall for the driver's seat and power adjustment for the passenger's seat, but it makes the Qashqai extremely expensive, placing it against premium rivals with which it can’t realistically compete.

Engine: 1.7 dCi

The 148bhp 1.7-litre diesel needs working harder than the larger 2.0-litre 148bhp engine in the Seat Ateca and Skoda Karoq, but still feels much punchier than the 1.5-litre diesel also offered in the Qashqai. Worth considering if you must have a Qashqai and you plan on towing.
