Review

As a five-seater, the Nissan X-Trail is a spacious and comfortable cruiser. However, if you’re shopping for a seven-seater there are plenty of other options at around the same price that are more spacious and versatile. If you do buy an X-Trail, the front-wheel-drive e-Power in entry-level Acenta Premium trim offers the best value.

N-Connecta is our recommended trim level because it gives you lots of standard equipment while not breaking the bank. Opting for this trim adds a larger touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone-charging, digital instrument dials, privacy glass and upgraded safety features. We wouldn’t recommend going any higher up the X-Trail ladder than this.

So far we’ve tried the E-Power engine with E-4orce four-wheel drive, but unless you're after the best version for towing, we reckon it’s worth sticking with this 201bhp two-wheel drive version, which manages 0-62mph in 8.0sec.
