The model
Read full Nissan X-Trail reviewThe Nissan X-Trail is a spacious and comfortable cruiser with the option of seven seats and a competitive price tag. Its main issue is that plenty of price rivals are better at being a seven-seat SUV, offering even more space and versatility. If you do buy an X-Trail but don't need four-wheel drive, the front-wheel-drive e-Power in entry-level Acenta Premium trim offers the best value.
The trim
See full equipmentN-Connecta is our recommended trim level because it gives you lots of standard equipment while not breaking the bank. Opting for this trim adds a larger touchscreen infotainment system, wireless phone-charging, digital instrument dials, privacy glass and upgraded safety features. We wouldn’t recommend going any higher up the X-Trail ladder than this.
The engine
See full engine specsThe entry-level mild hybrid engine has 161bhp for a 0-62mph sprint in 9.6sec. It’s powerful enough, but a hesitant gearbox and noisy engine make this nowhere near as smooth to drive as the e-Power alternatives.
