Review

Not only does the Peugeot 2008 look the part (both inside and out), it's well equipped and has a range of punchy, efficient petrol engines. That said, the Ford Puma and Skoda Kamiq are better all-rounders, as is the Audi Q2 if you want a premium badge.

Trim: Allure

Allure trim adds desirable extras, such as larger 17in wheels, climate control, privacy glass, power-folding door mirrors, two USB ports in the back, a raised centre console with driver's armrest, front parking sensors and the 3D-effect driver display. It also adds an improved automatic emergency braking system that takes the 2008 from a four-star Euro NCAP performer to a full five-star-rated vehicle.

Engine: 1.2 PureTech 130

The mid-range 129bhp 1.2 Puretech 130 offers impressive, flexible performance that’s relaxing around town and easy on the motorway. It's also impressively frugal recording 47.3mpg on our True MPG test.
