Stylish, practical and good to drive, the well-equipped 3008 is a highly recommendable family SUV. For most retail buyers, the 1.2 Hybrid 136 is the best choice, but the Hybrid4 plug-in hybrid model will offer significantly lower company car tax payments. There are better PHEV SUVs out there, though, and the Skoda Karoq is an even more practical alternative to the regular hybrid and diesel 3008.

Range-topping GT costs almost as much as premium rivals such as the Volvo XC40 and Range Rover Evoque, both of which we think offer better value than this 3008 trim.

This 1.2-litre engine might sound small for a family SUV, yet it’s more than up to the task. Performance is respectable and it’s frugal, too.
