Review

While the Peugeot 5008 has more rivals than the fully electric e-5008, it’s ultimately a better car, offering the same seven-seat practicality along with a more comfortable ride. If you do buy one, we recommend entry-level Allure trim and the mild-hybrid engine.

Range-topping GT trim has 20in alloy wheels, Alcantara upholstery, additional ambient interior lighting, a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, a powered tailgate and more parking aids than entry-level Allure.

The mild hybrid can’t go as far on electricity alone as the PHEV but still averages up to 52.5mpg officially. It offers respectable performance, although it feels like it’s labouring at times due to the keenness of the automatic gearbox to shift up.
