The Peugeot 5008 is stylish, practical, good to drive and one of our favourite large SUVs. It's relatively affordable to buy and run, especially if you go for the entry-level 1.2-litre Puretech 130 petrol engine. If you need even more space the Kia Sorento is an even better bet.
You might be suspicious that the entry-level 129bhp 1.2-litre engine is too small but it’s eager to rev and packs enough punch for most people's performance needs. It takes 9.9sec to get from 0-62mph and with plentiful low-down shove it feels far stronger on the road than those numbers suggest. It's available with a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional slick eight-speed auto.
