The Peugeot 508 SW is certainly more practical than the 508 saloon, with a boot capacity that's slightly up on the Audi A4 Avant and BMW 3 Series Touring. However, while the 508 SW has an attractive interior and comes well equipped, it doesn't drive as well as those premium offerings and isn't as spacious or comfortable as cheaper estates from the likes of Skoda. It isn't a bad choice if you're swayed by the looks, but there are plenty of estates that are easier to recommend.

GT takes all the kit of Allure Premium trim then adds 18in alloy wheels, black door mirrors and window surrounds, LED headlights, a boot net and alloy pedals. As most of the stuff just makes it look a bit sportier, we wouldn’t bother.
The engineSee full engine specs
This 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol is the cheapest engine in the range. With 128bhp, it’s good for a 0-62mph time of 10sec with competitive CO2 emissions and claimed economy of almost 50mpg. We’re yet to try it in the 508 SW, although it has impressed in other Peugeots.
