It may not have the class of more mainstream MPVs, but the Peugeot Rifter offers class-leading space, and is surprisingly good to drive.

Trim: Allure

This mid-spec trim is the best value option. It gets an 8.0in touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with rear parking sensors and 16in alloy wheels.

Engine: 1.5 BlueHDi 100

This engine feels livelier than the weaker 74bhp diesel and doesn't require you to make as many gearchanges, but we'd still choose the more powerful petrol or diesel instead.
