The Porsche 911 is a thrilling sports car and one that's remarkably easy to live with. Most will be best served by the entry-level Carrera, but the Carrera S is also worth considering – especially if you're enticed by the prospect of a manual gearbox. This entry-level engine is not short on performance, with 380bhp and a 0-62mph time of 4.2sec. This is only available with the quick-shifting PDK automatic gearbox, but the Carrera has all the power you need, with a broad spread of muscle allowing you to drive effortlessly or quickly, depending on your mood.
