The Porsche Boxster GTS, with its glorious 4.0-litre flat-six engine, sounds amazing, is sensational to drive and is beautifully built. Put simply, it’s one of the best sports cars on sale. The four-cylinder versions aren't nearly as appealing, but are still far superior to the BMW Z4.

This S model gets the more powerful 345bhp 2.5-litre petrol engine that's quick, but full of flats spots and emits a rough, unpleasant, four-cylinder drone. It's the least impressive engine in the range.
