The Porsche Cayman is a joy to drive and, if you go for the GTS version, has a fantastic, sweet-sounding six-cylinder engine to match its superb dynamics. If your budget doesn't stretch to the GTS, the Cayman 2.0-litre is worth considering, but for similar money, we'd take a serious look at the Alpine A110 instead, which is a fabulous alternative.get the best price

The T is a sportier-feeling version of the entry-level 2.0-litre Cayman. It gets the Sport Chrono Pack, a limited-slip differential, PASM sports suspension with adaptive dampers, Sport Seats Plus in part leather and cloth, which feature electric height and backrest angle and bigger side bolsters. The infotainment system is a no-cost option, so make sure you add it back in.

Entry-level Caymans comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 296bhp. That's enough for 0-62mph in as little as 4.7sec (with a PDK automatic gearbox fitted) and it revs out cleanly, but is really into its stride by 3000rpm. It's smoother than the 2.5-litre Cayman S, but still sounds quite unappealing. It's worth looking at because the Cayman package is so good, but for the money we'd take a serious look at the lovely Alpine A110 instead.
