Combining the Porsche Taycan Coupe’s driving qualities with the added practicality of the Cross Turismo, the Sport Turismo should be a well-rounded package. The slightly bigger boot, roomier rear seats and greater visibility have barely compromised the performance, and we suspect the 4S will give the best balance of price and pace when it arrives. If your budget allows for the GTS, you’ll have a very comprehensive electric performance car.

The 4S doesn’t net you a whole lot more kit over the entry-level 4 (you get red brake calipers, brushed aluminium door sills and some silver exterior detailing) but what you’re really paying for is the jump up in performance from 375bhp to 483bhp. We think it's worth making the step up as performance improves dramatically, with the 0-62mph time dropping from 5.1 seconds for the '4' to 4.1 seconds for the '4S'.

This is the 4S with 563bhp. Unlike the Taycan four-door coupé, it gets the 93kWh Performance Battery Plus as standard. Despite having a bigger bottom than the coupé, it is just 0.1sec slower to 62mph, at a devastating 4.1sec. The official WLTP range is 281 miles (about 230 miles in the real world), and it will charge faster than the standard 4S coupé, at up to 270kW, which delivers a 10-80% charge in 20mins.
