Review

If you're looking for a brilliant electric car that offers real driving pleasure, the Porsche Taycan is the one for you. On top of its amazing handling, it's also wonderfully classy inside and reasonably practical, too. On the negative side, the Audi e-tron GT is almost as good to drive but cheaper and better equipped, while the Tesla Model S has a much better official range.

The entry-level Taycan coupe comes with 19in wheels, two-zone climate control, a heat pump to condition the battery for maximum range, heated front seats, a partial-leather interior, keyless start (not keyless entry), front and rear parking sensors, three touchscreens, Apple CarPlay, sat-nav, cruise control, eight-way electric front seats, wireless phone charging, four USB-C ports, a 10-speaker stereo and LED headlights.

The entry-level, rear-wheel-drive Taycan has up to 402bhp and can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.4sec. Its official range is 268 miles from a 79kWh battery.
