If you're looking for a brilliant electric car that offers real driving pleasure, the Taycan is the one for you. On top of its amazing handling, it's also wonderfully classy inside and reasonably practical. On the negative side, the Audi e-tron GT is almost as good to drive but cheaper and better equipped, while there are a number of cheaper electric cars out there with longer official ranges.

The entry-level car comes with 19in wheels, two-zone climate control, a heat pump, heated front seats, a part-leather interior, keyless start (not keyless entry), front and rear parking sensors, three touchscreens, Apple CarPlay, sat-nav, cruise control, eight-way electric front seats, wireless phone-charging, four USB-C ports, a 10-speaker stereo and LED headlights.

The entry-level, rear-wheel-drive Taycan with the Performance Battery Plus has up to 469bhp and can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.4sec. Its official range is 301 miles from a 93kWh battery.
