The model
Read full reviewIf you're looking for a brilliant electric car that offers real driving pleasure, the Porsche Taycan is the one for you. On top of its amazing handling, it's also wonderfully classy inside and reasonably practical, too. On the negative side, the Audi e-tron GT is almost as good to drive but cheaper and better equipped, while the Tesla Model S has a much better official range.
The trim
See full equipmentOur favourite trim comes with 19in wheels, two-zone climate control, a heat pump, heated front seats, a part-leather interior, keyless start, front and rear parking sensors, three touchscreens, Apple CarPlay, sat-nav, cruise control, eight-way electric front seats and LED headlights, wireless phone-charging, four USB-C ports and a 10-speaker stereo. We recommend adding the 93kWh Performance Battery Plus option to get a longer range and 270kW charging.
The engine
See full engine specsThis is the 4S with 563bhp, thanks to the addition of the optional 93kWh Performance Battery Plus package. That delivers even more eye-watering performance (we tested it getting from 0-60mph in 3.6sec) along with a longer WLTP battery range of 288 miles (about 230 miles in the real world). It will also charge faster than the standard 4S, at up to 270kW, which delivers a 10-80% charge in 20mins.
