If you're looking for a brilliant electric car that offers real driving pleasure, the Porsche Taycan is the one for you. All versions are quick, have amazing handling, and are wonderfully classy and reasonably practical inside. It’s also available with one of the longest official ranges you can get – but on the down side, none of that comes cheap.

Adds an extra 26bhp over the 4S, with a slightly stiffer suspension setup to match. It makes more sense than the Turbo models for everyday usability, but it's a pricey leap over the capable 4S

This is the GTS model with 510bhp, rising to 587bhp when launch control is activated. Engaging said go-faster aid allows the GTS to rocket from 0-62mph in 3.7secs. Like the 4S, it will also charge faster than the standard 4S, at up to 270kW, which delivers a 10-80% charge in 20mins.
