Review

While we can see the appeal of the Captur’s funky looks and affordable starting price, by the time you get an engine with enough power coupled to the right trim, it's not that cheap. And all the engines are relatively weak next to those offered in the better-handling and better-packaged Ford Puma; it doesn't ride anywhere near as well as a Volkswagen T-Roc; plus, if it's space you're after, the Skoda Kamiq is much bigger and has a nicer interior.

Trim: BOSE Launch Edition

This expensive top-end model comes with 18in alloy wheels that make it ride worse and an eight-speaker (with a subwoofer) BOSE sound system.

Engine: 1.5 dCi 115

Another engine we haven’t sampled, although, again, its higher price is off-putting. Unless you drive to the moon and back every year and desperately need an automatic gearbox, we’d stick with one of the cheaper petrol engines.
