Section: Version review

The model
Read full reviewThe Renault Kadjar is a great all-rounder that easily takes on the rest of the family SUV class. The Nissan Qashqai still pips it in a few areas, such as ride quality and interior finish, but the Kadjar fights back with cheaper running costs and much better reliability.
The trim
See full equipmentUpgrading to Techno trim will cost you a little extra, but we think it’s worth it as it adds automatic emergency braking (AEB), something we consider key safety tech. On top of that, you’ll also get 19in alloy wheels, LED headlights with automatic high beam, 360-degree parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, a height-adjustable front passenger seat and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The engine
See full engine specsBuyer’s averse to choice will like the fact there’s only one engine in the Kadjar. It’s a 138bhp 1.3-litre that’s strong enough, feeling particularly gutsy from low revs and delivering its power in a smooth and predictable manner. Even so, a 0-62mph time of 9.8sec isn’t anything spectacular.
