As a small electric car that’s comfortable and offers fantastic cruising manners, the Megane E-Tech is well worth considering. Its range is competitive and there’s plenty of standard kit, but its disappointing depreciation holds it back from being a class leader.

If you’re after all the bells and whistles, you’ll want to go for the top-spec Iconic trim. Not only does it get all of the standard kit you’ll find with other trims, but it also gains a heat pump. The problem is that it’s rather expensive, especially compared with rival small electric cars.

The 60kWh battery is paired with a 215bhp electric motor for an official range of 280 miles and a 0-62mph time of just 7.5sec.
