Good to drive, roomy inside and fairly affordable to own

Trim: Xcellence Lux

This range-topping trim is based on the regular Xcellence but adds microfibre suede seats, 18in alloy wheels and Seat's self-parking system. However, you’ll be spending the sort of cash that would get you a bigger or possibly premium brand SUV.

Engine: 1.6 TDI

This 94bhp diesel doesn’t feel as responsive and sprightly as the petrol engines – indeed, it’s the slowest engine in the line-up – but it will manage fine in town driving and on occasional motorway trips
