The model
Read full reviewThe Seat Leon is a fantastic all-rounder. Not only is it great to drive, well equipped and exceptionally roomy in the back, but it should also prove relatively cheap to run thanks to the frugality promised by its petrol engines – especially the 1.5 TSI 130. Indeed, its blend of talents make it one of the very best family cars.
The trim
See full equipmentSeat markets the Xcellence as ‘the indulgent one’, which seems appropriate once you consult the brochure. As standard it comes with 17in alloy wheels, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, suede-lined seats, a powered driver’s seat with memory function, a rear-view camera and even keyless entry.
The engine
See full engine specsEndows the Leon with some proper performance. In our tests, it managed to sprint to 60mph from a standstill in just 7.7sec, which isn’t far off what some hot hatchbacks can manage. It’s smoother and quieter than the TSI 130, too, but it quite a lot more expensive.
