Review

There is a lot to like about the Seat Tarraco. It’s one of the better cars in the class to drive if you like something that feels a bit sporty, it's really generously equipped and it has a very good safety rating, if not the best in the class. But it isn’t as versatile as the very best large SUVs both in terms of space in its rear-most seats and its boot. There are cheaper alternatives, for private buyers and company car users alike.

Expensive but adds 20in wheels (that make the ride firm), leather seat trim, heated front and rear seats and a 360-deg camera.

If you think you might need a bit more lugging ability – for a regularly brimmed car or to tow with – this 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel is a good shout. It isn't quite as quick as our favourite petrol flat out (0-62mph take 10.2sec) but it has more welly in the mid-range for pulling heavy loads more easily. And it's RDE2 compliant, so won't cost company car drivers the extra 4% (surcharge) in BIK tax.
