The model
Read full reviewThe Karoq is a top-drawer family SUV with clever seating options, a big boot and plenty of space inside for passengers. It’s also a pleasure to drive, thanks to its comfortable ride and great visibility – and it has a well made interior. However, Skoda is not planning to produce a hybrid Karoq, so if you want a family SUV with a low company car tax rate, we’d recommend you take a look at the Kia Sportage.
The trim
See full equipmentSE Drive is fantastic if you’re on a budget. It gets 17in alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, automatic lights and wipers, privacy glass, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, cruise control, rear parking sensors and an 8.0in infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Every Karoq will also feature a digital instrument cluster as standard from later in 2022. If they’re anything like the pre-facelifted Karoq’s digital instruments, you’ll find that they’re no easier to read than the standard analogue dials, but they do show a good spread of extra information.
The engine
See full engine specsThis 148bhp 2.0 diesel is gutsy from low revs and is very nearly as quick as the 1.5 TSI 150 petrol. The TDI 150 is available with optional four-wheel drive, and the added traction that provides could come in useful if you plan to do any towing or simply live up a slippery lane.
