The model
Read full reviewFirst and foremost, the Skoda Octavia offers generous space for occupants and a massive boot that dwarfs most competitors from the class above, plus its plush interior and frugal engines make it a fantastic car for covering big distances in. The iV makes brilliant financial sense for company car users.
The trim
See full equipmentSE Technology trim offers the best value for money, costing barely any more than SE First Edition trim despite gaining voice control, floor mats and more distinctive alloy wheels, plus the front parking sensors and an infotainment upgrade.
The engine
See full engine specsOur pick for company car drivers is the brilliant plug-in hybrid 1.4 TSI iV 204. It sits in a very low BIK tax band and, as far as performance goes, it'll rattle off 0-62mph in just 7.8sec; although it's less rapid in electric-only mode it's pokey enough and can officially do up to 41 miles on a single charge. That's very competitive for a plug-in hybrid and should cover the majority of commutes. Charging takes 6hrs from a three-pin plug or 3hrs from a 7kW wall box.
