Review

The Skoda Superb is pretty comfortable, well equipped, great value for money and one of the roomiest cars in its class. If you can forego a premium German badge, it's a spankingly good car all round.

Trim: SE

Step up to SE for bigger 17in alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, power-folding door mirrors, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, automatic LED headlights, adjustable lumbar support and better infotainment with smartphone mirroring.

Engine: 1.5 TSI

This petrol is our pick of the range. With 148bhp it has enough poke to match the 2.0 TDI 150 from 0-62mph (in 9.0sec for the record) and while you have to work it harder up hills than the diesel, it has the requisite oomph for most people's requirements. It's also smooth, reasonably fuel efficient and pretty good on company car tax.
