Worth considering if you need a muscular tow car that seats seven but too flawed to recommend otherwise

Trim: ELX

The next rung up gives you the option of five or seven seats, along with a few more luxuries. These include electrically adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, seat heating front and rear, dual-zone climate control, rear privacy glass, a 9.2in touchscreen with sat-nav, additional airbags and 18in wheels. The Rexton makes more sense in EX trim, though.

Engine: 2.2

The only engine, a 2.2-litre diesel unit, has 179bhp and 295lb ft of torque that are enough for adequate performance. It’s refined for the most part but does get shouty when you rev it hard. Four-wheel drive is standard and you can choose a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic gearbox.
