There are more upmarket small SUVs, but the Suzuki Vitara is one of the most spacious and is great value for money. Even the entry-level model gets plenty of kit, and its mild-hybrid technology helps to keep running costs down. However, similarly priced rivals are better to drive and feel more upmarket inside.
The trimSee full equipment
While SZ-T may be the entry-level trim, it’s our preferred trim level. That’s because it keeps the price down while coming with plenty of standard equipment, including 17in alloy wheels, a rear-view camera, adaptive cruise control, automatic air conditioning, automatic LED headlamps, automatic front windscreen wipers, heated door mirrors and a 7.0in touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto smartphone mirroring.
The engineSee full engine specs
Only available with an automatic gearbox, and its slow responses are a pain on the open road. Its increased efficiency over the sweet little 1.4 isn’t worth the additional cost.
