The Tesla Model Y is a Model 3 for the more family-minded buyer. It could be better to drive, but it stands out for performance, range and charging – and should hold its value brilliantly.

Both versions of the Model Y come with plenty of luxuries, including climate control, adaptive cruise control, faux-leather seats (heated in the front and back), an electric tailgate and keyless entry via an app on your smartphone. There isn’t much on the options list. Indeed, apart from metallic paint and different alloy wheel designs, the only options are extra autonomous driving functions.
The engineSee full engine specs
The Long Range version can still hit 60mph from a standstill in a staggering 4.8 seconds, so it’s way faster than a BMW iX3. Officially, it can do 315 miles on a charge, although 250 miles is more realistic on the road.
