The Prius+ is a very expensive choice within its class, although this will be offset by exemptions and tax reductions afforded by its low CO2 emissions. Company car drivers will particularly appreciate it, as any MPV with emissions approaching this level is diesel-powered, and therefore incurs a 3% surcharge in BIK liability. The Prius+ scored well in our True MPG fuel econony test, too, achieving an average 54.6mpg in real-world driving.
Toyota Prius+ quality & reliability
If this section covered quality alone, we’d knock off another star. The dashboard may well be durable, but with its wide expanse of grey plastic and occasionally cheap-looking details, it just isn’t classy enough in a car that costs so much. On the other hand, this is a Toyota, so we have no reason to doubt the integrity of is construction or its long-term reliability.
Toyota Prius+ safety & security
Safety is one of the most important aspects of any MPV, and Toyota knows this; the firm says it has been engineered to meet the highest safety standards around the world. It certainly has a good base to work with, because the Prius hatchback has already achieved a five-star crash test rating from Euro NCAP. There's plenty of safety and security kit, too.
