A well sorted family estate that’s comfortable, spacious and affordable, if not quite as practical as the Skoda Octavia Estate

Trim: Design

Entry-level Design models receive hill start assist, cruise control, a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity, air-conditioning and auto lights. For not much more however, you can get Tech Line that adds even more kit.,

Engine: 1.4T 16V 125

This engine may have an extra 25bhp over the non-turbocharged 1.4-litre, but it still manages to be just as efficient and clean. It’s also the cheapest engine in the range to get Vauxhall’s six-speed manual gearbox. In the hatchback (we haven’t tried it in the estate) it feels more muscular, but we’d be tempted by the more powerful version of this engine if you were looking at this.
