If maximum practicality and zero tailpipe emissions are what you’re after from an MPV, the Combo Life Electric might fit the bill. Its high level of specification make it a costlier choice than a Citroën e-Berlingo.

Entry-level Design comes with 16in alloys, automatic lights and wipers, and front and rear electric windows. It differs from the e-Berlingo in providing a fully digital instrument cluster, three individually folding seats in the second row, an opening glass tailgate, electric folding door mirrors and sat-nav.

The 134bhp electric motor actually manages to offer decent performance of this size and weight of vehicle. Its 0-62mph time of 11.7sec for the five-seater version isn’t exactly thrilling, but it gets off the line smartly and keeps up with regular traffic easily.
