The model
Read full reviewThe Volkswagen Arteon is good to drive, stylish and amazingly practical when considered in the company of other coupés, and even some saloons in the executive car class. It's not as dynamic to drive as a BMW 3 or 4 Series or as beautifully finished inside as an Audi A4 or A5, but it is comfortable, well equipped and relatively affordable to run as a private or company car. Just make sure you get a good deal if you're paying outright because the depreciation is worse than anything with a premium badge.
get the best priceThe trim
See full equipmentThis trim only really adds 19in wheels, racier detailing inside and out, privacy glass, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof. It's expensive and one to avoid.
The engine
See full engine specsThe 148bhp 1.5 TSI 150 petrol is the obvious engine option. It's the cheapest version to buy and will officially average 45mpg but can power the big Arteon from 0-62mph in 8.9sec, which is plenty quick enough. It makes light work of motorway jaunts or fast, flowing country roads and proves flexible when you don't rev it hard and free-revving when you do. Comes only with a six-speed manual gearbox.
