If you’re after something that’s stylish, comfortable and practical, the Taigo could be a great option for you. It's not as capable or fun as the Ford Puma but that’s forgivable given the superb ride, generous rear passenger space and the fact that you get plenty of toys with even the entry-level version.

Top-tier R-Line trim isn’t much more expensive than Style trim but has a sportier focus. That means you get sportier exterior styling, special sports seats and a Driving Profile Selection switch. You go without Style trim’s matrix LED headlights but do get LED headlights with automatic high beam.

The most powerful engine in the range has 148bhp and sprints to 62mph in 8.2sec, faster than even the Ford Puma Ecoboost mHEV 155. The extra power means it’s even more willing to give a sudden burst of speed, making it even easier to take advantage of gaps on the motorway. The DSG automatic gearbox, which comes as standard, is smooth and flicks through the gears quickly.
