Good to drive and relatively classy inside, the VW Up is a fine buy if you choose carefullyget the best price
High Up trim gets you a lot of kit for your money, so it's our favourite. This includes as standard 15in alloy wheels, air conditioning, Bluetooth, heated front seats, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, extra speakers for the stereo, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearlever, and front foglights. This trim level is available only with the 74bhp and 89bhp engines.
This 74bhp engine feels a bit gutsier than the 59bhp engine. However, it still struggles to keep up with fast-moving traffic, especially when hills are thrown into the mix. It could be had with a manual or automatic gearbox, and in High Up or Up Beats trim.
