Review

The Volvo V90 is a practical and classy choice that rides and handles well if you specify it with the optional adaptive dampers and avoid massive alloy wheels. It isn't that cheap to buy and it suffers quite heavy depreciation, which are two reasons we rate the BMW 5 Series Touring more highly, but the V90 is definitely worth a look if you can bag yourself a great deal.

This is the most popular trim level, thanks to its more aggressive styling and it's definitely worth considering. It adds 19in alloys, sports seats, metal interior trims, leather/ nubuck seat trim, an electric driver's seat, blind spot monitoring and privacy glass.

This is the only diesel. It's RDE2 compliant and officially averages 50mpg. While its acceleration won’t exactly squash you back in your seat (0-62mph takes 8.5sec), it has more than enough mid-rev oomph for easygoing progress.
