Review

It might be some time since we voted the multi-talented Volvo XC40 our Car of the Year, but it still cuts the mustard. It blends generous passenger space and a practical boot with a quality interior and top-notch safety. That means you aren't only buying a hugely desirable product, but one backed up with real substance. If you're a private buyer, we reckon the T3 petrol makes the most sense, but the T4 plug-in hybrid is a great choice for company car drivers.

Nearly 250 miles on a single charge and 0-62mph in just 4.9sec are seriously good key points, but it's also mega expensive until Volvo brings out cheaper trim levels.
