Review

The Volvo XC60 is not the best large SUV to drive but, being classy inside, roomy and well equipped, it's still a strong option. Moving up the trim list can make the price less appealing, though.

Trim: R DESIGN

This is the most popular trim level, thanks to its more aggressive styling; you also get chunky 19in alloys and tinted windows. Sports suspension results in a slightly firmer ride than the standard car – this might not be for everyone – but the upside is better body control and a more rewarding driving experience.

Engine: 2.0 D4

The best seller and our top recommendation, this 188bhp 2.0-litre diesel is the cheapest and most efficient version of the XC60. Available in all trims levels.
