The Abarth 500e and 500e Convertible are entertaining urban runabouts that handle pretty well and get off the line quickly. They lacks the outright enjoyment of many petrol-powered hot hatches though, and ithe ride isn’t all that comfortable. We'd recommend the entry-level version because the convertible and Turismo trim get pricey.

In entry-level form, the 500e gets plenty of standard equipment, including 17in alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control, keyless start and rear parking sensors. Due to the Turismo being so expensive, this is the one we’d go for.

There’s only one power option and it combines a 153bhp electric motor and a 37.8kWh (usable) battery. That allows the Abarth 500e to get from 0-62mph in 7.0 seconds. The small battery gives you an official range of 164 miles as a hatchback and 157 miles as a convertible.
