Read full New Audi A3 reviewComfortable, enjoyable to drive and sufficiently spacious inside for most, the current Audi A3 Sportback has long been an impressive offering marred by an interior that felt somewhat lacklustre considering its premium billing. However, with a mid-life facelift that brought in a more generous array of standard features and a revised interior, the A3 better justifies its premium price tag.
The trim
See full equipmentS line trim is focused on sporty looks; you get even larger wheels (18in), a bodykit, LED headlights, privacy glass, dynamic indicators and sports seats. You also get stiffer sports suspension as standard, although luckily you can revert to regular suspension for no extra charge for a smoother ride.
The engine
See full engine specsThis 109bhp, 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol is fine if you don't tend to travel with your car loaded up and mainly potter around town. It'll tackle motorways, too, but you need to rev it out and drop gears more often than you would with the more powerful 35 TFSI, which isn't that much pricier or less efficient. The 30 TFSI will officially average more than the 50mpg and crack 0-62mph in 10.6sec.
