The Ford C-Max is the MPV to go for if you enjoy driving and don't need the capacity offered by seven-seaters. Its cabin is reasonably flexible and well put together.
The Ford C-Max range offers something for most tastes thanks to a broad spread of engines, including our favourite 1.6-litre turbodiesel. There's also a choice of three trim levels, going all the way up to full-blown Titanium, although we reckon the basic Style trim offers the best mix of equipment for the money.
Superb handling may be the stand-out feature of the C-Max, but it's also good on long trips, other than some wind whistle at the legal maximum. The ride is cosseting at all speeds and the Ford is easy to pilot around congested city streets.
Make sure you haggle with the dealers as there are generous discounts to be had, although this is reflected in only average used values.
Running a C-Max will not drain your wallet thanks to good economy from all engines and cost-effective servicing from Ford dealers. Twin front, side and curtain airbags are standard, but not every model has ESP included.
